The Scene
The name means "beautiful refuge," and the place absolutely lives up to it, from silk-uniformed staff to potted palm trees. It may be in Ghirardelli Square, but it's tropical grandeur all the way--the ceiling is sky-high and the space is defined by dark carved-wood detailing. The sweeping staircase even has its own koi pond.

The Food
French-accented Vietnamese dishes meet utterly fresh ingredients with gorgeous, delectable results. Wrap the deservedly acclaimed crab, shrimp and shiitake imperial rolls in a lettuce leaf with mint for extra crunch. Striped bass seviche, draped over cucumber and shallots in rice vinegar and chili oil, is a revelation in taste and texture. An entree of enormous freshwater prawns with a rich turbinado sugar glaze flecked with chili pepper is superb. Moist, marvelously flavorful quail with plum sauce is architecturally presented with sweetish black sticky rice.

I've taken clients from around the world to dinner here....never fails to impress. I think its proabably the atmosphere/ decor that does the trick everytime. Owned by actor Don Johnson (Miami Vice) so the place looks like a movie set. Oh and the food is good too.

For the most part this is a good restaurant. The prices are little high and they don't give the biggest portions but for what we did get the taste was really good.

Watch out diners! The waiter added on extra portions of appitizers, (not informing us of course.) And when we questioned the check, he said "well you ate it!" then stormed off and slammed the check book on my chair. The manager was worse. We let him know that the waiter insisted we try the appitizers, although some of our group are vegetarians. In this place patrons are NOT first. The food was not even close to good. The banana boat desert was bitter, pork chop was dry, lobster was dry. At the end our 40.00 appitizers turned out to be 200.00, and the manager only took off 50.00. If you insist on going here, please watch your check!
