All Portuguese & American. We never leave after a ball game or a trip to the city without stopping at the Grubstake restaurante for a nice portuguese meal along with great wines and beer from Portugal.

Fernando, Linda and the crew are are very friendly.

okay. I came here after a night of drinks with some buddies and the food was okay. I've been wanting to try this place - I heard their burgers were pretty good. I ordered the mushroom burger. It wasn't anything special. The prices were okay. The burger was $6.25 but we had to order fries separately. No real compelling reason to come back except to try the Portuguese dishes which I heard were just "okay" too.

Late Night Grub. After a late night concert..re energize with total comfort food. This place has great breakfast, milk shakes, etc. Open late and very nostalgic atmosphere. Portugese Linguisa & Eggs are very good.

Very unique!. I knew there was something special to that little diner when I first saw it. It appears like a Route 66-style roadside diner with a lot of artistic flair. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. The food leaves diners to shame! Stuffed Bell Peppers and Mashed Potatoes. Mmmm. I got a delicious home style breakfast for $5. Also, the have a nice patio and they are open till 4am.

My #1 choice. Grubstake is my first choice simply because I love their food. It is wholesome and delicious, it doesn't taste like typical diner food. The atmoshpere is wonderful and a bit cozy.

Great Late Night Place. On a recent trip to the Bay area, I had occasion to sample the GRUBSTAKE. We were taken there by a Cab driver, who claimed that he ate there often, and that we would not be disapointed. He spoke the truth. Good portions, friendly service, clean restrooms, great atmosphere. Old diner. As good as any we have back East, where diners are a tradition. I would highly recommend the Grubstake to any of my friends.
