Rex's Great Dinner and Brunch.
Rex's is great neighborhood brunch spot. The eggs benedict is great. They have 4 different styles of benedict. Rex's also does the basics eggs and omelets well. They also have a few tables outside and with the big front windows open.....inside is outside.
Rex's is also a great neighborhood dinner spot. Their chicken penne paste is to die for. I am a huge fan of the Rex's salad and their spinach salad. I would also recommend their steak. It is the special on Saturday night's (3 course fixed price meal). They also have no corkage fee Sunday - Thursday.

Don't bother with Rex Cafe. Don't bother with Rex Cafe. The service is awful. It took the wait staff over ten minutes to figure out who was servicing our table. Then it took another 40 minutes for our drinks (which was a soda) to arrive The waitress also passed our table several times without making eye contact or refilling our water glass. The food arrived in a timely manner but the quality was below average. It was a waste of time to go to Rex Cafe.

Good, but not Great. Nice local hang out - food is average, not wonderful. But it offers a nice option to go to on a weekday evening when it's not too crowded.

My Russian Hill Favorite. Rex Cafe is the perfect neighborhood place. The food is great - love the French Onion soup.
