Good food. Not memorable.. The place is crowed, even midweek at 630pm. The hostess was unpleasant. The food is very good. The atmosphere is lacking. The music is played too loud for comfortable conversation. The portions are small and the sushi fillings, especially with the fresh fish, are skimpy. I liked the food, but would try another sushi place to find the perfect fit. Not in love with the place.

small but perfect neighborhood restaurant. I dined at sushi groove last week and I had a very good experience.

the fish was extremely fresh, especially the Kumamoto oysters and the butterfish is to die for. The service was prompt with an easy going atmosphere. It was fabulous and I would recommend strongly this unique restaurant to my friends.

Not the same. Sushi Groove north and south used to be hip destinations...the food was fabulous, the ambiance was incredibly cool...i felt like i was part of the "in" crowd when I dined at either location. Nowadays, things are different. That fun ambiance is gone...I'm not sure what happened, but I hope they rectify things quickly, as both locations used to be my favorite sushi destinations in the city...what has changed? I can't quite put my finger on it...the food is still outstanding, but the ambiance has changed.

What has happened here?. I used to love coming into Sushi Groove, and I loved recommending it to friends as well. However, I went in for dinner last week, and it's just not the same restaurant that it used to be. It used to be FUN to eat here, now it's all business and no one (guests and employees alike) looks like they are having fun. It's all business! Also, the quality of the sushi is not as good as it used to be. What's going on here? Please bring back the Sushi Groove I know and love!

Leo and Lenny. Great Chefs...wonderful atmosphere and the best sushi ever!!! I brought my 2 yr old and he even loved the sushi. The specials were great. I recommend the "Lola" roll. It was crowded but cozy. Definitely a must to make a reservation ahead.

best sushi in san fransisco, MUST READ. if you are looking for exquisite dining that isn't too pompous and too expensive, sushi groove is the place for you sire! Leo San Pedro... this chef is by far one of the best (if not THE best) sushi chef i have ever had. very personable staff, a lot of fun, EXTREMELEY fresh fish... all at a good price. I have tried sushi all over the world and Sushi Groove makes top 5. Please take my word, you will NOT regret making a trip into san fransisco. i live in berkeley and i go every weekend-- its worth the 30 minute ride. Side note: Leo's knife's name is Excalibur. make sure to tell him that, he will undoubtedly be impressed. just walk up to the bar, ask for leo and say... LEO! I AM (name AND I KNOW THE NAME OF YOUR SWORD, SIRE. TIS EXCALIBUR!!! he loves that.

They put the "groove" in sushi. This place ROCKS!! The food is delicious, the service is wonderful, the sushi chefs are great fun, and the place is always buzzing. The sushi rolls are beautiful..and they taste even better than they look. I highly reccomend this place....Sushi Groove is wonderful. This place puts the "groove" in sushi!

Still The Best. I have been here for years, first as a neighbor and now as a visitor, and Sushi Groove has never compromised it's food quality. There has been alot of imitators, but no one can stand up to Sushi Groove...well except for Sushi Groove South. :)

Soft lighting, golden-orange walls and space-age light fixtures give Sushi Groove its groove, even when the place is packed, as it often is. The black-clad throngs are mostly a local crowd. The personable chefs put an artful spin on raw fish, such as the tuna caliente, diced fish with a jalapeno-spiked soy sauce and a jungle roll, which includes yellowtail and papaya.
