Editorial Review for Aimee, Andrew & Company – by Stephanie Rosenbaum

In Short
This narrow, pristine shop is a favorite among its Russian Hill neighbors. Think of it as your kitchen away from home. Dozens of tasty salads are laid out in one side of the long display case, with platters of entrees--from grilled salmon and lasagna to roast chicken and meatloaf--in the other. Delicious starches, sides and desserts are available to round out your meal.

San francisco has great restaurants, but I'm a Russian Hill guy. I don't tend to roam far for food. Fortunately, Polk street has everything I need. Sure there's Mexican, Chinese, and Thai, but there's also Andrew and Co. Side by Side Gourmet which specializes in Carry Out Prepared meals. My wife is a vegatarean, while I believe that God made slow yet tasty animals for a reason. She likes Thai, I'm a Cantonese guy myself, nonetheless we agree that the paninis, sides, and carry out meals at Andrew and Co. rock! When ordering Take Out Dinners, I generally pick of the Vegetarian Lasagna with green beans for her, and go staright for the flank steak myself. Carry Out Dinners come with sides ranging from garlic mash potatoes to steamed broccoli. I really like that they don't just assume you have a microwave, they always ask you what you plan to cook with in order to provide you with a cardboard box or tin. On the weekends I always pick up a Cuban Sandwich (they actually cure their own ham) "muy bueno"...and yeah, I usually pick up a vegatarian paninii made with eggplant for you know who, but what I'm really addicted to are the Hunan Noodles though. Sure, you look at the containers and think "I just need a 1/4 pint" but then you get home and ...gone. They should have meetings for HN Anonymous...I'd say hi, my name is...and I finished of a quart of Noodles today. Best Carry Out...but it's justmyopinion.

Pros: Excellent Selection, Fresh Food, Nice Staff

Cons: Parking on Polk is a lesson in patience.
