Ive heard of promotions but free worms in your Cod!. Went into Whole Foods today because I wanted fish. I didnt want to go to a scetchy place where I didnt know what the quality would be. Cod fillets were on sale so I took 1.5 lbs. Got home and started taking the bones out and noticed a strange curly thing on the surface. Picked it up and threw it away. Then I noticed another curly thing in the fish. Cut into the fish and pulled it out. IT WAS MOVING! Hit the internet for more info. Turns out it is a Cod worm. They occur rarely and can be prevented if you either A. look at the fish and see there are worms on it, or B. hold the fish to the light and see worms inside (called Candling). Candling is not Whole Foods responsibility but you would think you a least look at the fish when you are putting it in the display. There were at least three worms on the outside and I dont know how many on the inside. I was refunded the money for the fish but that doesnt really make up for the experience.

Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff, especially when it comes to recommending what's new and fresh. The cheese and meats here are my favorite because even though the prices can really skyrocket, the selection is impeccable. Compared to the Ferry Building Farmer's Market where I spend at least twice as much on every visit, this place is a deal! So much selection of organic and grass fed meats really is a plus. Whenever I'm being lazy, it's also a great place to pick up a pre-made meal, albeit a little on the bland side.

Treat the body like a temple at the country's first national certified organic market.. In Short
Whole Foods is a vegetarian's dream grocery store, with a focus on natural and organic goods and a gargantuan selection of fruits, vegetables and vegan products. But carnivores won't feel neglected, as stores also boast a vast selection of top-quality meats, poultry and fish. Also expect fresh-baked goods, housewares, a floral department and a well-stocked vitamin and personal-product section. Deli offers hot and cold prepared foods and artisanal cheeses.

Whole Foods OK. I'm a low income -vegetarian-gay -hippie (San Francisco - where else?). I use Whole Foods for bulk items, free-range eggs, and some processed veg. foods. It's super-clean, & I find the staff very helpful. Another reviewer mentioned "yuppies" - yep, some do have that new-rich air. When they're blocking an aisle, oblivious to anyone else, I use kindness by saying "excuse me, I can't get by". When possible, I still support my local family-run market.

expensive but worth it. The store is a bit pricey, but well worth it. Especially the produce, meat, and fish. I recommend it highly.

I'D EAT HEALTHIER IF I COULD AFFORD TO!!. Fantastic produce, meats, cheeses, pates, wines, deli, flowers, etc., but definitely not for budget-minded shoppers. Gourmet items (truffles, rabbits, dried lavender for cooking and such) are easily found here. Friendly service, though often a bit slow. Believe me, if I had the money, I'd shop here all the time.

Overrated!. Although Whole Foods deserves a great deal of credit for spreading the awareness of organic foods, don't be fooled! As this company grows larger, they are taking away from other neighborhood health stores and compromising the quality of its products.

Whole Paycheck. This lavish supermarket/health foods store is pricey but has sparkling-fresh, pristine produce and a huge selection of everything from prepared foods to bakery items to wine and beer and bulk-bin stuff. Expect long lines and a self-absorbed yuppie clientele
