In Short The San Francisco Cable Car Museum, established in 1967 and operated by the Friends of the Cable Car Museum, Inc., is a nonprofit group dedicated to education. The museum is located in the historic Cable Car Barn, where visitors can watch the actual cable winding machinery. A variety of trucks, grips, cable, and brake mechanisms are on display, including the world's first cable car.
