Editorial Review for Campton Place Hotel – by Gayot.com
The Scene
This refined, discreet hotel was a hit from the very beginning, popular for both its acclaimed restaurant and its supremely elegant rooms. It opened in 1983 after an $18-million renovation. And its reputation hits new highs with the addition of executive chef Daniel Humm, who introduced a new menu awash in Mediterranean influences.
The Details
The hotel has just 117 rooms and is never overrun with large tour groups. The lobby, lounges, snug guest rooms and large suites are exceptionally attractive and comfortable. A skillful mix of rich colors complements antique and contemporary furnishings, plush carpets and fresh flowers. Service is emphasized. You'll enjoy intelligent concierges, prompt room service and an efficient brigade of business and secretarial services. The hotel's eponymous restaurant serves French cuisine and stands up to the hotel's formidable reputation.

Last fall my wife and I had a delightful stay and were made to feel like long time returning guests after only three nights. The staff was personable and professional. My new favorite SF Hotel.

I went for lunch on a Tuesday to take advantage of the DineAboutTown menu and check out the place. The service was flawless and the food was exceptional even though it was cheaper than the regular 3 course menu. This was a great value. On top of that, among the two breads they served there was an incredible olive bread. This is great to see a restaurant that seems consistent. I didn't feel that we were handled differently than if we had dinner. I would blindly go back for another occasion.
