I absolutely agree with all of the comments below. I would not recommend my worst enemy to shop in this place. The salesmen and the owner are the most dishonest, greedy, and hostile people I have ever dealt with. I went to the store recently to purchase a wide angle lens (vivitar hd .43x) and the salesman tried to tell me that it was priced at over $1000, but that he was running a special deal on the item for only $300. Unfortunately I fell for their BS and bought it. The salesman did not provide any information about the item to me and did not notify me that the sale was going to be ‘final.’ The same night, I came home and after looking at retail price of the item realized that they overcharged me by $235!!! Not only that but they also took out the instruction manual and the cleaning cloth that was supposed to come in the box with the lens. The very next morning, I went to the store and tried to return the item and they refused me all the service!!! DO NOT buy from here!!!
CAMERA CROOKS in SF – Camera Express CROOKS
Don?t get swindled
I was in the market to buy a Cannon 30D and I went to China Town in San Francisco for a bargain. I went to one of the camera shops (Camera Express 625 Grant Ave) and they pulled a bait and switch on me. They straight up lied to me and said that the XTI was newer and better than the 30D. Yes, it?s newer but not better, they sold it to me for close to $500 over the retail listed price. Never, ever buy a camera from a slum shop on the side of the street, always go to a reputable company or buy online.
These crooks practice their overseas selling techniques here in the USA, Boycott this store, and do not go in, they are slimy, sneaky, crooks.
I hope someone benefits from my stupid embarrassing mistake, if so the extra $500 I lost will be worth it.
do not enter this store!
please tell every one about this, so that this store won't be able to operate any longer!
Unfortunately I did the same mistake like so many others before. No chance to get the money back!
Read more about this online at the rip off report
I can't belief, that the ripoff report was written already in Nov. 2004 and the business is still operating, so that I did the same mistake March 2008.
My loss is 470.-
Yesterday my girlfriend bought me a adapter for Europe. She came home and told me she paid 23 dollars for it. I was completly upset!!!! How they could take advantage of someone out didn't know. So I came back today to the shop and try to have my money back. But impossible because NOTHING IS POSSIBLE AFTER YOUR PURCHASE.
Also, I try to negociate but they didn't want to talk about it and insulted me and my girlfriend.
Fortunatly for them no cops were around when it happened.
One more thing...DON'T STOP AT THIS SHOP. THEY ARE JUST THIEVES.
Overpriced Camera Equipment and Dishonest Pricing – TOTAL RIPOFF ARTISTS!!!
These guys will bend over backward to pressure-sell you anything in their very nice-looking store for at LEAST twice the retail value. I am sad to admit that I got finagled for a camera UV filter at over 3x its retail price, only to find out when I got home. And the sad part is they had the damn box marked at 10x the retail price, in an effort to convince the ill-prepared like myself that they were giving a great deal.
Oh well, hopefully someone will read this and AVOID them at all costs!
