The Scene
A rich, masculine canvas of dark chocolate walls offsets elegant stop-points of color throughout the small dining room: creamy tablecloths, frosted bowls of pink and ivory roses, French patterned toile chairs and enormous, suspended lamps of shirred, cranberry fabric. A sculpture of three androgynous, hammered-bronze "muses" bearing artichokes, wine grapes and asparagus dances at the center of the room. Waitstaff dressed in head-to-toe black proffer dishes with the gracious reverence of priests.
The Food
Chef Gregory Short brings seven years of experience from Napa Valley's renowned French Laundry to this urbane mecca, and foodies rejoice in his stylized new French cuisine. Exceptional ingredients are culled from throughout the country to create four-, six- and nine-course tasting menus. A sculpted cylinder of chilled Maine crab is punctuated by refreshing cucumber gelee. Rich meat options include Paine Farm squab with butter bean puree and Black Angus ribeye with an oven-roasted tomato tart that explodes with natural flavor.

Yes, it is a little stuffy and design is flat but the service and food were pretty good. We have reservation for 8:30pm and decided to go with Tasting Menu (9 courses) and... an hour and a half later we were still at our 3rd dish. However, waiter was very attentive to our comments that they did not have to wait so long between the courses to make us believe that this is a high end restaurant. After that, the intervals between the food became shorter and we were done close to midnight :) After having eaten at a restaurant I always ask myself - was there anything particular what would make me to come back? I don't think so.
Pros: Food, service
Cons: Nothing special, overpriced

What a typical French SNOTTY restaurant. Nothing was impressive about this place, the staff was SNOTTY, the patrons were SNOTTY, the food was NOT IMPRESSIVE. I recommend going to Le Folie any day any time over this overpriced, overbearing, SNOTTY restaurant.
