San Francisco's Oriental Pearl
by Miggy at Citysearch
went over with my Family and friends on a Saturday, thought it was going to be impossible to get a table but it was not, the place was really clean and had a good vibe going on, pretty quiet tho.
They sat us in 15 min. and right away we got to order, the Dim Sum appetizer was awesome!! I also ordered a Chinese Beer to wash them down!
We all ordered something and shared, the soups was so good, it was a Chicken something soup LOL. Then came the Oriental Pearl Fried Rice and that was good but not out of the ordinary. We also ordered some beef with asain brocoli and that was awesome too!
For Desert the Choices were very small, so we orderd the Mango Pudding and I saw the Taro Pudding, the server said it was not available and when i made a face she went ahead and got one ready for me in 5 mins!!! That was great!
overall it was ok, pricey but good, Id say to just order the Dim Sum for all and a Beer!
- Pros: Took 15 min to get a table, Friendly Service
- Cons: Prices are no the best, food is average, very few Deserts
Great Hidden Little Restaurant in China Town
by johnnyboyss at Citysearch
The Oriental Pearl Restaurant offers great quality dim sum at a reasonable price. My sister and I arrived absolutely ravenous and ordered 8 different items, plus a pot of green tea, and our bill came out to be just less than $30. The servers were very courteous, and assisted us in choosing certain items. They even accomodated us as we entered just as the restaurant would have closed for lunch.
Overall, excellent food, service, and prices! Would definitely return before leaving San Francisco!
This review is the subjective opinion
- Pros: Clean and tidy - I would highly recommend it.
Dim sum appetizer good. Entrees ok.

Not the most dynamic chinese food we've ever had. The service was attentive, the restaurant seems pretty clean. The cleanliness also lends itself to generic-ness, though. The dim sum appetizer was the best part of the meal--lots of great flavors and sauces. Our main entrees just didn't have a ton of zing--the mongolian beef was tender but floppy, and the chicken chow mein was there but boring. If you somehow get stuck here for dinner you're in for some absolutely average chinese food (and average isn't all that bad, right?). Just don't come here expecting to be blown away.
- Pros: Servers are very nice.
- Cons: Blah.
Good for Chinatown, but not Great

This restaurant came highly recommended by our concierge at the Marriott, and when I saw all the reviews plastered on the walls on the way in, I was very excited. The restaurant is clean, the service is good, and considering the other options I saw in Chinatown, this might be a great restaurant in the area; however, I didn't find the food to be any better than your average neighborhood Chinese restaruant. We ordered a few pieces of Dim Sum before the meal, and it was excellent so I would recommend it for that, but our two entrees were well below expectations. We got the Almond/Cashew Chicken, and a "spicy" beef noodle dish, both of which were bland and of poor quality. Just get the Dim Sum and forget the main dishes.
- Pros: Clean, Good Service
- Cons: Bland, Poor quality meat
Excellent foods and excellent service

I went there for a weekend meal. The service was excellent and the foods marvelous.. we had steamed talipita, egg plant in clay pot, peking duck, and scallop.. Cannot say enough how good is this place.
