Warm and inviting, tasty and affordable.... The prix-fixe menu is great. The menu is varied; there are at least 2 selections for the salad course and the main course offers choices of beef, rabbit, tuna, and lamb, to name a few. Oh! and duck...The beginning soup course accomplishes a sometimes difficult task in that it is really pleasing to all who try it. Cost is such that if is your turn to 'treat' for the night out, all will have a great selection, good food, good service and it won't break the bank-whether it is just for just 2 people or even better for a group. The wait-staff are warm and attentive without being overbearing or intrusive. One of our table mates was having a birthday and with our invitation and in the spirit of the evening, our waiter joined us in singing happy birthday-who knew he would have the best voice of the bunch!! An enjoyable evening for sure.

In the basement of the Cornell Hotel in Union Square, Jeanne D'Arc offers traditional prix-fixe French fare in a medieval setting.. Situated in the basement of the very French Cornell Hotel just off Union Square, Jeanne D'Arc restaurant feels discreet and secluded despite its central location. Inside, stone walls, arches and stained glass windows resemble a medieval church, while swords and gauntlets share wall space with paintings and tapestries of the French revolutionary heroine and restaurant's namesake, Joan of Arc. The prix fixe menu features seafood such as prawns, scallops and boiled swordfish, as well as hearty French dishes like magret de canard du val de loire (roasted duck breast with a French raspberry sauce) and lapin chasseur (rabbit cooked in a white whine sauce). Desserts such as the chocolate mousse gateau and orange liqueur soufflé are hard to resist, and as with any self-respecting French restaurant, the wine list of both local and foreign varietals is extensive.

quirky deliciousness. I love this place and come several times a year. I've come on dates, with family, and with large groups of friends and each time was happy. The prices are quite reasonable especially considering the quality of the food. I particularly agree with tomclark about the lamb shank, the rack of lamb, and the souffle. The duck with raspberry sauce is also wonderful. I won't say it's the best food I've ever had, but it is excellent, especially for the price. And I call it 'quirky' because of the decor - it's decked out with medieval paraphenelia (swords, armor), Joan of Arc paintings and tapestries, and antique irons.

Charming Hidden Treasure. Unique San Francisco restaurant featuring $29.25 menu including soup, salad, entree and dessert (outstanding lamb shank, rack of lamb, duck and pepper steak with cream cognac sauce and more). We took picky, price-conscious friends who were dazzled by the rapport prix/qualite and the marvelous ambience. Great place to take a special someone or out-of-town guests. Dessert choices include Orange Grand Marnier souffle better than the much more expensive Fleur de Lys. Delightful.

Best French in San Francisco. Jeanne D'Arc has an extensive menu for prix fixe. Excellent food, reasonable prices. They have an extensive wine list that includes California and French wines. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
