Editorial Review for Wilkes Bashford – by Felicia Clark

In Short
For more than 30 years, this shop has been charming San Francisco's elite with luxury goods, attentive service and custom tailoring. Each floor is a self-contained boutique with its own look and merchandise. The first floor features exclusive menswear lines by Loro Piana, Ermengildo Zegna and Luciano Barbera. Industrial gray pillars set a post-modern scene while wrought-iron hooks hold menswear geared toward the architecture and design crowd.

Not only is this a store that has the most stylish men's clothes, they upgraded their women's area since I was there last. The 5th floor has some of the most beautiful contemporary clothes. Forget Haute Couture, I can move in this fun stuff! I love it! Plus, they are having a special promotion for Spring and I got a $100 Gift Certificate towards what I purchased! Wow!

Pros: Clothes that can last more than one season

Cons: Store in San Francisco is not open on Sunday

Every time I travel to SF, I make it an effort to visit this store. I do so mainly for the Wilke's shoe department. The gentlemen that work in the shoe department are extremely affable and highly knowledgeable. WB carries the absolute best in footwear. If conservative English is your thing, then John Lobb is for you. If you want something elegant yet understated and Italian, then Bontoni is the only way to go. The styling and finishing on the Bontoni's are of museum quality. If you want a weekend shoe, then it's the Car Shoe.
