A shady alleyway off the main Chinatown drag is home to this beloved, long-standing operation -- a dimly lit warehouse where old men and women tend to whirring machines filled with fortune cookies. Batter is poured and the finished cookie is quickly shaped by hand, concealing the lucky slip of paper within. Large bags of almond or chocolate fortune cookies are available for $3; small bags are a steal at $1.
