Going Down Hill Fast. I was a regular here for the past 10 years spending more than I should, but, mostly feeling good about it. Recently, however, their have been a number of changes at the Saks Men's store that have sent me running from Saks. The merchandise has gone down hill as they will longer be carrying Prada and the Gucci area is being leased and you have to deal with Gucci if you have an issue with the product. They (Gucci staff) are less than helpful and customer service is not in the vocabulary. The rest of the merchandise is looking like stuff you can find at boutiques. Bloomindales has a much better selection. The only two people who have any style and taste on the 5th floor Men's designer area have left within the last month, Will and Ryan. I think they got fed up with what was going on. The remaining staff are desperate to sell anything and have little product knowledge and taste in my opinion. Nieman and Barneys are too stuffy I find the best selection and staff at Bloomingdale's and a few boutiques in the area.
A New York pioneer ventures across the country with designer standards..
In Short
Saks is the retail hub for classics like Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, Michael Kors, Kate Spade, Ralph Lauren, Prada and Badgley Mischka. This department store gets props for its petite and Salon Z (sizes 14-24) women's collections, as well as great selection for the little ones. Each department is a boutique to itself, boasting well-trained clerks who not only sell the good life--they set the example.
the best store for mens fashion in sf. fit, fit, fit first and fashion, fashion, fashion second. saks is the only one department store in sf that carries smaller european sizes that actually fit me. Neiman used to be good but not anymore, now it's only good for shoes. all the brands at saks men store are constantly being updated with the trends of the seasons. it is pricey but if you buy designer clothes, it's a given. i rather buy a $600 sweater that actually fit, never goes out of style and wear it years after years than spend $600 on 6 sweaters that don't fit and have no use. the staff is very friendly and easy going. they are always avail to help but never pushy. accessories are good, shoes can be better. and of course there are designer boutiques but it's good to have variety of things in 1 place to play with. highly reccomended!!
I Love Saks!!. Saks is far superior to most department stores. The store is beautiful and kept in pristine condition - you hardly ever see things messy or unfolded. It has a great layout and everything is organized by designer, so it is easy to navigate and find what you're looking for if you are pressed for time. There are also many knowledgable salespeople around. I LOVE the selection - they have everything you could possibly want! It's the only place I go for jeans since they have every cut and style you can imagine and all the latest trends. This Saks in particular has a huge selection of Rock and Republic and Hudson, along with many other designer brands. There are also pretty good sales. It is a peaceful shopping environment, especially compared to the noisy chaos, annoying people, and disorganization that is overwhelming at Macys, Nordstrom, and Bloomies. At Saks, people are there not to hang out or wander through to another mall, but to SHOP. And it's right on Union Square, a great location. Love it!!
my favorite shopping place in san francisco!!!. last week i was there and they were handing out champagne and hors d'oeuvres (sp?) and it was like the biggest party in the city! the people there remember me every time and love to stop and chat and they don't even expect me to spend money! i easily spend entire afternoons there with the excellent sales staff, especially in shoes! daniel is my favorite...he's the best!
Saks---will turn me into a bag lady. so I shop saks like weekly and it is consistantly good the have an excellent selection of stuff from Prada,Marc Jacobs,Dolce and Gucci as well as hard to find things Like Gallinos mens line,Dior Homme,Dsquard, issey Myake and Yohj Yamamoto....the sales staff in the mens designer is okay...moreo r less...but i suppose the selection makes up for that the definatly merchndise toward a very hip, fashion foward clientele..and they have great accessories
Great men's store. The Sax Fifth Men's store is the Bay Area mecca for men's clothes that matter. You can find all the high-end labels here ... Costume National, Prada, Gucci as well as some clothes priced in the mid-range like Theory and Miu Miu, etc. You can also get top of the line suits to match any taste, from the sober board room to the hipster dot.com outpost. Unfortunately, the one thing they are lacking is a larger and more exciting variety of men's shoes. Otherwise, you should be able to find anything you need here. A welcome addition to the shopping scene, my main concern is whether this place will remain open ... no one ever seems to be shopping here.
