This '50s-inspired grill attracts diners with beyond-generous portions and well-prepared standards..
The Scene
Friendly service and a view of the Yerba Buena playground make up for Mo's no-frills chrome-and-Formica atmosphere. It has all the trapping of a '50s diner, but without the aged patina of the real deal. Tucked between a skating rink and a bowling alley, pre- or post-meal family fun is just a step away.
The Food
Mo's serves more than a dozen permutations of the basic burger, piled high with fixings, from the Belly Buster topped with cheddar cheese, sautéed mushrooms and onions to the blue cheese-slathered spin on the cheeseburger. No matter which variation, the seven-ounce chuck patties are juicy, full of flavor and swaddled in a chewy, thick-crusted bun. Health-conscious diners can substitute the beef patty for a lighter turkey burger or grilled chicken breast. Generous sides of french fries arrive crisp and hot.
