Beware of bugs!. After going in circles I finally found this spot. What a waste of time. I was disappointed that the volume on the TV was muted - after all the Giants were in the playoffs. If you like small flying bugs as company at the bar then this is the place to go! Disgusting!
White-collar types sip martinis after a hard day's work at this downtown bar and restaurant..
The Scene
Tucked away on a side street just south of Market, this upscale spot beckons weary workers from surrounding skyscrapers. Brick walls, high ceilings, white tablecloths and roses give the place a touch of class. The service and atmosphere remain down-to-earth. A slightly claustrophobic downstairs room is furnished with couches and a small bar for those looking for more intimacy. Hardwood floors, framed paintings and a classic dark-wood bar round out the decor.
The Draw
Top-shelf martinis seem to be the drink of choice. Grey Goose and Skyy vodkas are very popular. Happy hour can start early, as some traders from the Financial District invade Louie's as the markets close in New York. During baseball season, Giants games are watched closely on three TV monitors.
The New Chill Spot!. This place rocks! First of all, I was outnumber by women by over 2 to 1 and everyone was friendly. The atmosphere was chill, easy going and alot of fun at the same time. The kitchen did an awesome with our food. I'm am definitely coming back with more friends. Very surprised I didn't know about this place sooner since it is so close to the Financial District.
JDub's rant. What else to say but cheap pints, excellent food and beautiful women. I'm signed up for the grand opening celebration on the 19th for sure.
Great Place!.
I was recently in the new "Louie's" and was shocked! We went in for a beer and ended up changing our plans and staying all night. I felt like calling everyone I know and inviting them down ... the place has a great vibe!
Anytime you feel like having a blast with good friends ... Louie's is the place!
Jason. This place has possibly the best happy hour I've been to in San Francisco. This place is classy yet trendy and since the ownership has recently changed hands (it's now actually called Louie's Bar and Grill), this place has improved drastically. Faster, friendlier service with a more upbeat atmosphere. A must try for Happy Hour!!
Atmosphere is Key. This place was just recently taken over by some new owners, and from speaking with them when I was there they have some big plans to look forward to. You can already feel the change in energy. They are sure to spread their love for people and lust for life attitude and bring a new atmosphere to Louie's that will have people lined up around the corner in no time. Great food, great music, great crowd, great selection of booze, great atmosphere...everything you could ask for.
New Owners! New Everything!. The new owners have done a great job bringing back this San Fancisco staple. This place is awesome! Great food for dinner and lunch! Great Happy Hour! By far one of the best in the Financial district. The new owners are constantly upgrading. Try the fish and Chips.
Have a Martini and leave the Attitude. A good place for the afternoon Martini or where friends (read friends- not business associates) can eat and drink in place that feels like Home .... quiet, dark, off the beaten path. Offers basic fare at a great price in a relaxed atmosphere, with a staff of real people who may not jump when you say jump.
If you got the time, they got the burger. The service is slow and inaccurate. It's a bit pricey. But the hamburgers taste good enough to keep my interest.
