In Short – Airy, industrial decor lends a lighter, more urban feel to Gordon Biersch than most beer halls. The bar may get crowded after 5pm, when a happy-hour crowd hoists a few pints of seasonal Bavarian-influenced beers. A menu of fusion and New American dishes include beer-friendly offerings like shrimp and chicken pot stickers, Moroccan-spiced lamb chops and the signature garlic french fries.
Great Brewery

I have always enjoyed my experience at Gordon Biersch. It is an upscale brewery that has excellent food as well.
fun restaurant with a great beer selection

We walked in on a Sunday from the train station, we were hungry and thirsty and GB's was great! We were told that the dining room was full but the same food service was offered in the bar. We grabbed seats and the hostess was there immediately with menu's. The waiter was extremely nice and asked if we wanted a certain channel on one of the big screen TV's behind the bar. We told him we were starving and wanted to order, he said he'd put our order in right away. We all ordered different types of burgers withe the garlic fries and beers. The burgers were hot and juicy (and big!) and prepared just right. The fries were great, I can see myself coming back just for some fries and a beer. I tried the Pilsner beer served in a big cold glass and I liked it. This place would be great for happy hour. At the end we told the waiter we were going to Union Square and he offered to call us a cab which I thought was very thoughtful. I would definately eat here again, they also have an outside eating area that would be nice in warmer weather.
- Pros: garlic fries
- Cons: parking
Pricey and average... needs improvement

I've been here quite a few times in the past months and tried a few of the dishes. I must agree with all that the beer is good; not being a beer-drinker I did want to try a beer on a previous visit: DARK beer. They recommended and brought a lager which I enjoyed, and ordered it. Unfortunately the food came 45mins later for my group of three, to our distress. We told the waiter and manager, and were given a discount on the total bill due to this delay in food delivery BUT we had asked when we ordered if there was to be any delay and was told no. A huge group was to blame for the delay. I find that for a place that has such (high) prices, that their service and food is nice but is still lacking.... for example today's meal was served well sooner but the garlic fries were thin and saturated with oil, a sign that it was refried, and when touched, it reeked of oil. The beer-battered fish ordered was tasteless, and for the first time in years, I used the table salt. As a guest of friends, I really can't complain but I know what I have experienced, and if I were alone... this place wouldn't be on my list of places to stop at. Parking is available at a garage if you want to pay; street parking is 30/60%, and not in your favor.
- Pros: location, view(s)
- Cons: parking (lack of), service
