Rude Hostess. I give the benefit of the doubt to everyone. But this woman (or girl) as she wanted to be called was beyond unpleasant. She took a perfectly good night out with friends and ruined our evening at GB. It doesn't take much to be a good hostess...(here's your table, you're waiter will be __... BOOM that's it...) but insulting guests when they are complementing them for their hard work is mind boggling. Then the food came. Ice cold. $25 dollar steak that looked like it had been dragged behind a car on mission street. Ahi that was seared nicely, but had ice crystals in the middle. Potatoes are great though.
Great Microbrew. Whether you're in SF, San Jose, Palo Alto or even Memphis, TN, you can always expect great beer. I'm always game for a cold Marzen but I especially enjoy their seasonal beers like the Mai Bock and Winter Bock. The food hits the spot and if you're a garlic lover, get the garlic fries!!! The bartenders and waitstaff are great. I've been a regular for several years now and if you like good microbrews in a laid back setting, you will be too!
Food Good, Service Not. I have eaten here a few times and the food is always good but the service is always terrible. The wait staff apparently has no idea what they're doing and they have a great way of making you feel like a nuisance just for being there. It can also get very loud in there, making conversation difficult. Their beers are also below average in my opinion. But like everyone else says, the garlic fries are great.
GRRRREAT BIERSCH. I HAVE BEEN TO MORE THEN ONE AND THE FOOD IS ALWAYS GREAT !!
GARLIC FRIES!!!!!. Those Garlic Fries ARE THE BEST!!!! Order them with the Darkest Beer!
great fries!. GB's garlic fries are the best I have ever had. THere a must order dish when you go to GB.
Always dependable. You always know just what you're going to get at Gordon Biersch - it doesn't matter which one you go to. The one in SF happens to be at a prime location right across the street from the Bay and even has a sweet little outdoor patio you can sit out on while you eat and/or drink. The beer is always decent, and the food, while a bit on the steep side, is pretty good too. But who goes to a brewery as a food critic, right? For decent beer & good food at a great location downtown, SF's Gordon Biersch is pretty hard to beat.
