Editorial Review for Galleria Park Hotel – by Gayot.com
The Scene
The predecessor to this smart little hostelry was the landmark Sutter Hotel, which opened its doors in 1911. In 1984, the property was re-created in the hands of developer Bill Kimpton and interior designer Nan Rosenblatt. With a crystal skylight, etched glass and sculpted fireplace, the lobby reflects an art nouveau vision. Further renovations took place in 1996 and 2006, upgrading the rooms with flat-screen TVs and pillow-top mattresses; the service with a doorman and concierge; and restoring the lobby to a '40s look.
The Details
Guest rooms are small but exceptionally attractive, with yellow-striped wall coverings and Frette linens. Suites are well-designed in soothing colors, and feature Jacuzzis and fireplaces. Notable amenities include a short outdoor jogging track, well-appointed conference rooms and two restaurants: Brasserie Chambord and Perry's Downtown. A nightly wine reception typifies the kind of personal service to be found here.

User Reviews for Galleria Park Hotel

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Galleria Park. The staff was courteous and the hotel was clean and well decorated. The concierge recommended a nice place to eat. Perry's downstairs was convenient but not very good. The hotels location made it easy to walk just about anywhere we wanted to go. The valet was a little slow and fairly expensive. Love the complimentary wine hour!!!

We chose this hotel after seeing its central Financial District location, proximity to the BART, reading online reviews, and comparing prices. The hotel delivers on many accounts, however, you might find a few of the rooms with a broken A/C unit or tv (and watch out for the elevators!). Overall, the staff was friendly, but we had to go to mgmt to fix our problem as the front desk was unaccomodating. The hotel is slowly updating their rooms, working down from the 8th floor, but we had no noise problems (and the model looked good). We utilized the 2 computers downstairs, as well as the evening wine. Also, Perry's Restaurant next door was great! I would stay there again (as long as I could stay away from that certain desk clerk).
