The Scene – The predecessor to this smart little hostelry was the landmark Sutter Hotel, which opened its doors in 1911. In 1984, the property was re-created in the hands of developer Bill Kimpton and interior designer Nan Rosenblatt. With a crystal skylight, etched glass and sculpted fireplace, the lobby reflects an art nouveau vision. Further renovations took place in 1996 and 2006, upgrading the rooms with flat-screen TVs and pillow-top mattresses; the service with a doorman and concierge; and restoring the lobby to a '40s look. – – The Details – Guest rooms are…

So...
I really haven't stayed there yet, but it seems like they are prejudice to who they want their clients to be. I was given a free one weekend night stay at this hotel from my work and it turns out that i will never be able to use it. I won this certificate fair and square at one of my work events...they say that it would be hassle free, but once we called, the first thing we did was ask if they had any availabilities...the gal that picked up the phones told me that they had vacancies. Then i porceeded to tell her that i had a certificate and then she said that she would have to put us on hold...She came back (mostly likey after asking her boss who prompted her to tell me) "sorry you have to book the reservation in advance". So then i asked about the following night....she replies with "i'm sorry, but we are REALLY busy". i asked her how many days in advance we would have to book the reservation, and she doesn't have an answer for us??? I don't know but there is something shady going on down there...
well, that's my 2 cents!
- Pros: Can't tell you
- Cons: Everything so far
Great Location!

We went last year in for Labor Day weekend great location got a terrific rate on priceline when we checked in we were spoken to like 2nd class citizens when they saw the reservations were made through priceline.
However the decor is very trendy, the room and bathroom was small but it was very nicely done. We did not participate in the wine service each evening but did take a walk outside to the courtyard really like this setting.
If you can ask for a room on a higher floor I would recommend it as you are right on a main street and can hear the traffic.

- Pros: Location, Decor
- Cons: Small bathrooms, street noise
