The Scene – Tucked along Belden Place's pedestrian-only alley, this charming trattoria radiates the feel of a romantic Venetian hideaway. Tourists and locals alike jovially cram outdoor tables, while strings of small white lights twinkle overhead. Indoors, the main dining room, bracketed by red- and gold-striped banquettes and intimate tables, makes an earnest attempt at authenticity with artificially distressed walls in muted shades of orange. A second dining space in the wine cellar accommodates overflow. Servers, though not particularly well-versed in the offerings, are friendly and…
DON'T go here -- you'll regret it

From the outside, the restaurant looked great. Unfortunately, that is the only thing this place has going for it. Seems like a tourist trap (yes, I am a tourist on vacation in SF). Food was bad, overpriced, and the icing on the cake came when we received the bill showing that the pasta we ordered for our 1 year old and 2 year old was $12 each ($24 in total). The waiter said they do not have a menu for kids and suggested pasta so we ordered it. When the bill arrived, we asked the waiter if the tiny plate of pasta for our 1 year old and 2 year old was $12 each and he said that it was correct. Given that an adult entree of pasta was $19, it is just not right to charge $12/plate for pasta for infants and not let the customer know about it in advance. This place deserves to go out of business.
- Pros: Curb appeal
- Cons: Bad food, bad service, dishonest staff
Warm, Friendly & Tasty

A friend recommended that my husband and I go to Cafe Tiramisu for our anniversary, and we were more than pleasantly surprised. This jewel of a dining experience is tucked in an alley near SF's financial district, and features a palette-pleasing array of classic and not so classic Italian dishes. The service is attentive, yet not intrusive, and the wine list is reason to come back every week. I really can't say enough about this wonderful place. I look forward to returning very, very soon.
- Pros: Homemade Pasta, Wine List, Service, Ambience
Like eating in Roma, but better!

I've been eating in Cafe Tiramisu for over 10 years, whenever I get to San Francisco. Great food, attentive but not stuffy wait staff. Medium priced, not expensive, and definitely worth it. Can be crowded and a little noisy, but who cares, since its a great restaurant. I recommend it to everyone I know who is going to SF, and that's with a money back guarantee. It's as good as anything you will find in Italy.
