If you want an old school SF lunch, this place rocks. Tons of business and clandestine conversations are conducted in the booths here. Lots of boozing, too. Classics like celery Victor, Hangtown fry, boned Rex sole, all delicious.

How does this place stay afloat?. For some reason, this place still gets business. Therefore, the servers have been there forever and know that they don't have to try real hard. Same with the cooks - overcooked, bland, bad.

Best steak ever. Two words: veal porterhouse. It's not something I'm proud of, but it's one of the finest char-broiled, bacon-enhanced steaks I've ever eaten. Get one now!
