Retail Crown Jewel

Bell'occhio is without question one of the most unusual stores in the US. I do a lot of shopping and speak from considerable experience. Not only is the merchandise very carefully selected and presented with limitless imagination (e.g. a cordon of Marie Antoinette dolls, with little goats on fine ribbon leashes, making their way across a vintage metal bridge, itself a little structural wonder) but the knowledge of the friendly store staff about everything in the store and old-world craftsmanship in general is really astonishing. This is a resource unlike any other. They have had custom shoe boxed made to fit my obstinate closet and made memorable party favors (and wedding favors) for friends. Don't miss this store. It is one of a kind!
- Pros: Great atmosphere and Wonderful Merchandise
- Cons: Closed Sunday and Monday
Do Not Recommend Bell'occhio

My trip to this out of the way, frivolous store was a complete waste of my time and $20 cab fare. Merchandise is limited, random and expensive. Think $40/yard ribbon or $20 plastic walnuts. Additionally, half of their merchandise is not displayed. You have to go digging into cabinets, folders, and chests to find it. I purchased a few small items because I felt like my trip would have been a complete waste if I didn't buy something. The owner was not particularly friendly or helpful. I was not given a receipt for my purchases either and there is a policy of NO RETURNS printed on it. This would have been helpful to know BEFORE I made my purchases because it was not printed anywhere at the store. I will definitely not be going back to this store or spending any of my money there. AVOID this one.
- Pros: unique items
- Cons: poor customer service, unfriendly owner, no returns
