With its eclectic period collection of bureaus, chairs and tables from the '30s, '40s, '50s and '60s, the store resembles a gallery more than a retail outfit. Store owner Greg Favors chooses pieces by sophisticated moderns like Edward Wormley, Paul Frankel and Paul McCobb as well as art by California artists John Haley and Robert Howard. In the basement you'll find Retrospect's owner, the congenial Cornelius Ross, who will custom upholster a broken-down couch or create one you've imagined. Just bring him a drawing or a page from a magazine and in days you'll have the lounge of your dreams.
