A Mission stalwart from before the Mission was so "hot," the clientele of Kilowatt might look gruff, but if you're chill, they will be too. Absolutley no B.S. about this place; it's a bar and it does what it does very well.
Best place to watch Browns Games. Great bartenders, stiff drinks, great jukebox, free pool night and total sports coverage: hockey, football, baseball, motorcycle racing, basketball...
Best Bar in the Mission. It's a home away from home... I love this place. Everyone that works here rocks! Fridays can be too crowed when all the marina folk try to slum it in the mission.
Go for the bartenders.
The bartenders are the reason why I keep going back to Kilowatt. They are interesting people who take their time to talk to you.
It gets too crowded on Saturdays, but it's a great place to go during the week; it's never dead. You can find all kinds of people there, from middle-aged tattooed guys to preppy college graduates. It's my favorite place in the city.
Happy Hour Metal!. Great unassuming place to play some pool (two tables!) on an early Saturday afternoon, sipping on some microbrew you never tried to the dulcet tones of music designed to keep the casual weekend drinkers at bay.
Very attentive bartenders.. I've had nothing but good times here. The staff is always very attentive, friendly (in a mission sort of way) Drinks are great and cheap! Not to mention the staff is very attractive and entertaining!!!!
Happy hour!. Kilowatt's resisted the gentrification sweeping the Mission and stayed what it's always been: a great neighborhood bar. You get a wide range of brews (including some microbrews), a jukebox and great happy hour deals. A bunch of yahoos slumming it in the Mission fill the place on weekend nights, but on weekdays, it's filled with regulars. Perfect for an after-work drink. Plus, it's a cheesehead bar (go Packers!).
Indie-rock spirit lives on at this classic Mission haunt that boasts multiple pool tables and 18 tap beers.. Back in the day, this was a live-music venue where the likes of Pavement played to a packed house. The bands are long gone, but the rock-and-roll vibe remains. What used to be a stage now holds dartboards and pinball machines, while two large pool tables sit in the main room flanked by padded booths. This is a basic bar frequented by both Mission locals and bridge and tunnelers, chill and quiet on school nights, crowded and raucous on weekends. It's the kind of place patrons can bring their dogs to in the afternoon and stick around to get drunk with their friends at night. The jukebox plays new classics like Sonic Youth and the Clash.
The Best. The Kilowatt is a great place for tourists: hip, colorful, fun and full of people in good moods. A good band will make the Kilowatt a great place to hang on the weekend.
