Editorial Review for Manora's Thai Cuisine Restaurant – by Bethany Jean Clement
The Scene
Filmy white curtains veil Manora's diners from the outside world. The tranquil space is on the elegant side of casual, with dark-wood wainscoting, carved teak details and ornately framed Thai prints. Even when full, the room feels quiet and spacious.
The Food
The menu diverges from the usual peanut sauce and curry standards with fresh, interesting combinations of flavors--and all the dishes are a couple bucks cheaper than at comparable Thai places. A Yum-ma-keur appetizer offers tender charbroiled eggplant with prawn, chicken and hard-boiled egg in lemon-garlic sauce; gang jurd soup's clear, mild broth allows the simple flavors of shrimp, spinach and napa cabbage to shine. A dish of sautéed Chinese broccoli and bits of salt cod in a perfectly assertive garlic sauce tastes both healthy and addictively savory. Pong-pang clay pot is a bargain and a treat, with tons of seafood and vegetables in a silky, dark-red chili sauce.

Insider Tips
Save MoneyLunch at Manora's is one of the city's great dining deals. Get combos like the Chef's Special--barbecued chicken, green papaya salad and garlic rice--at dirt-cheap prices.
What to DrinkOne of several chilled chardonnays by the glass counterpoints the spicy food nicely, or try a crisp Singha beer, imported from Thailand.

Manoras set the standard for all thai restaurants to measure themselves by.the wait staff is attentive and friendly.the meal was wonderfull i started with the larb gai and srping rolls(vegi) then i had the sea food plater which is to die for.My wife has the salad Kak.we ended the meal with Fried Banas and ice cream.i have been coming here since it opened and they have never ever failed me.I entertain alot of friends from out of town and this is an absolute place to eat.We go back time after time.I recommend to out of towners and i am sure all the SF locals who apprecite good thai cuisine knows about this place.

I heard that this was the best Thai Restaurant in the city, but I was very disappointed. The food was mediocre, with very little spices. The curry chicken had 3 huge chunks of potato in it, as if they couldn't spend the time to cut it and just sliced the potato twice and tossed it in there. My glass was still dirty with a lipstick stain on it. My ice water contained no ice, even two of me refills had no ice in it, so I had to ask for a cup of ice. Service was very slow for the most part, until the end when we were done and ready to pay our bill. The couple in the table next to us kept on hugging, cuddling, and kissing the whole night! I would never go back to this dirty, disgusting place!
Pros: Decorations
Cons: Bad food, Disgusting People
