The big draw here is a large patio complete with bar and several tables, although billiards, an extra-long happy hour and a surprisingly tasty menu of Cali favorites--ahi tuna with wasabi aioli on brioche, pullled pork, and a chicken sandwich with warm brie and crisp apple slices on a baguette--reel them in too. Flatsreens hang above a bar that offers a handful of tap beers and specialty cocktails, like James' Giant Peach (fruit-flavored vodka, citrus essence, fresh lemon and lime) and an Oatmeal Cookie (Bailey's, butterscotch liqueur, Goldschlager) to a diverse crowd of neighborhood residents, cops, hard-partying young pretty things, and the occasional SoMa sketchball.
High Marks
"Really amazingly attentive service without the attitude you get from some clubs!" (Fabu2000, Citysearch user)
"Nice patio in back allowed our group to sit together and enjoy finger food and a few rounds of drinks." (mark, Citysearch user)
Low Marks
"This bar has potential to be a nice hangout...however, the problem is that the drinks are small and more expensive than comparable bars." (expertrater, Citysearch user)

We always end up at Mars after work. It's a great place to just hang out and have some great cocktails. The food is always good tasting and served hot, not like other lounges I have eaten at. check it out if your around the SOMA. Close to everything, including the SF Jail so pick a designated drive hahaha.

Couldn't really ask for a nicer day in the city. When you have to be at work you might as well break up the day by meeting a few friends for lunch at Mars Bar. I ordered the Ahi - tuna salad but the tuna was out for the day. Instead I ordered the three tacos and loved em! The back patio is a great escape from the rest of the city! I will be back again and again.
