Hidden Mission Jewel

One of the best Vietnamese restaurants in San Francisco. The menu ranges from a light a fluffy seafood crepe, to a delicious and traditional catfish in a clay pot.
This wonderfully intimate restaurant is owned and operated by the chef, which makes for a very unique environment. Thuy welcomes most guests by their first names, and is dedicated to providing a peaceful and enjoyable atmosphere for all of her patrons. The overall feel is hip and relaxed, and you can literally taste the quality of the ingredients in each dish.
Elephant Bleu is a star among the other Asian offerings in the Mission, and well worth a trip across the city. And its still secretive enough to make a great tip for friends. The indo combo and pho ga are two of my personal favorites.

Talk about personal service! The owner, Thuy is always there to cook and wait on me whenever I've been in there. She personally prepares some of the best bun la (vermicelli) dish I think I have ever tried here in the city. Always prompt and attentive, Thuy makes my experience at Elephant Bleu so worth it. How many places do you know of where the owner caters right to you? Somewhat small, but really cozy and always fresh and fast entres. It's only a few blocks from my apartment, so I make my way down there all the time.
- Pros: Excellent food, Personal service, Inexpensive
- Cons: Small, but cozy

Elephant Bleu is a treasure in the Mission. It has great food, and the owner, Thuy, is always very friendly and polite. I go frequently, and the food always hits the spot. I love the spring rolls with meatballs. Delicious. I would recommend it to everyone. The place isn't that big, so it's initimate and you can always get a great meal.
- Pros: Good food, Service, Inexpensive
- Cons: Mission parking
