One of several high-concept fast-food-fine-dining hybrids on the ground floor of Sony's Metreon complex, Firewood Cafe is the second location of this Castro favorite. The menu is primarily Italian, focusing on dishes from the wood-burning oven. Entrees include thin-crust pizzas, rotisserie-roasted chicken and a variety of pasta dishes. I always get their lasagna, and I really enjoy this place. It's relatively inexpensive - lasagna is $10 - and it's a nice place to eat before a movie or shopping in the area. Service is friendly and the ambience is bright. After having mediocre Thai food in the new Westfield, I am super happy that this place is in the Metreon (and cheaper, too, it seems - for the quality of food).

The Metreon features some fairly high-end stores and their food court suits the overall quality of the place nicely. Our salads were really decent though I had to retreive more iced tea for us. My girlfriend's sandwhich was a bit dry but this was solved by adding extra dressing. They'd get a higher score from me if we ever had table service.
Pros: Good food
Cons: bad service
