The Scene
The party never stops at this only-in-San Francisco supper club, where the "ladies" (gender illusionists) flirt while they deliver big, colorful cocktails, then appear on the central runway in hourly lip-synch revues. It's good, clean but scandalous fun for the birthday-party crowd. The decor is Asian modern, with bamboo accents and back-lit paper screens that constantly change color.
The Food
The food comes second to the outrageous entertainment, and the menu is somewhat overpriced. Choose carefully (remember: The steep prices include the "ladies") to get a meal without disappointments. To start, go for the remarkably moist chicken satay with herb-y peanut sauce and bypass the porcupines (deep-fried shrimp and scallop rolls that have mealy texture and little taste). Pretty squares of tuna sashimi have a peppery crust, but steamed mussels are oversalted. Honey-tamarind glazed pork ribs are dry, but seared halibut is perfect in a sweet soy reduction.

As a straight guy I was skeptical of going to a gender illusionist bar. It turned out to great! The drinks are strong and they keep coming. I had friends from Orange County and the girls LOVED IT!! Favorite part of the night... A group of my LA girls asking the dancer where did you get that great wig? "Wig!? This is my real hair!!" HAHA!! Loved the whole night!

I went to Asia SF for my little sister's 21st birthday and had a BLAST! The entertainment was so much fun to watch and my sister had the time of her life, which is exactly what we wanted. It was a good chance to drink all those girly cocktails we know we all love. We ordered several rounds of a shot called the Hello Kitty which was vodka mixed with a liqueur called Ty Ku. We kept ordering it to watch the bartender pick up the bottle cause it lit up! Asia was a great venue for a fun girls night out and I highly recommend it!

We went there for my birthday and it was memorable and fun. I'm so glad we did it. It was pricey and there was drama about the bills. If you're planning an event there, know that P3sf - Perfect Party Plans is a separate company from Asia S.F. and their pricing may be different from the restaurant's. I had spent a week playing phone and email "tag" with someone named "Noah" who promised to have my bill ready for me when I arrived. After meeting with 3 of his coworkers and debating with half a dozen people, he finally showed up.

Big and sweet are the rules for the specialty cocktails here; try Trina's Pussycat with whipped cream on top.
