Editorial Review for Truly Mediterranean – by Seth Lorinczi
In Short
Located right next to the Roxie Theater, this tiny place is all about functionality. A small counter with a few stools offers compact eating quarters, but most patrons enjoy this restaurant's offerings on the go. Middle Eastern fare includes falafel, shawarma, hummus and baba ghanoush.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoThe chicken shawarma is served only on Tuesdays and Fridays.
The ExtrasOrder an extra side of pita bread; the healthy sized portion of baba ghanoush will use up the bread provided quickly.

This is pretty average Middle Eastern food. Runny hummus, tahini like water, dry falafel, crappy salads - all the marks of mediocrity. But it's a hole in the wall in the Mission, so that gives it extra cred. San Francisco has almost no Middle Eastern food that's really good, so people don't have much to compare it with.
Pros: Late night, useful location
Cons: Mediocre Middle Eastern food

Great falafel in the tradition of great falafel bars. Seating is at a minimum though, and they use flatbread, not pita for wraps, which is an interesting twist.
Pros: Food, Inexpensive, Quick
Cons: Not much seating
