What People Are Saying About Gold's Gym

In Short – The Terminator and the Incredible Hulk (aka Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lou Ferrigno) lifted weights at the gym's Venice, California, flagship years ago, but even today, customers frequenting charter locations are bound to encounter serious muscle. Take note: The boys with bulging biceps are the mascots, not the majority. Gold's generally offers Spinning, aerobics and kickboxing classes, yet weight-training remains the core of the program. Dumbbells and barbells, not spa-like amenities, are the attractions that draw the beef-heads in droves.
A good place to work out without all the fluff
by Markinsf
I have been going there for a couple of years in the morning. I like the gym because it is a more serious crowd. They are all there to work out and it is not as much of a pick up place as some other gyms. The maintenance staff works harder than anyone. The staff that work the front desk are always helpful and friendly. I have never met anyone that was unkind. I like the large space and variety of equipment. I am always able to find a machine or free weights when I need them. I will be going here as long as I am able to.
- Pros: Good equipment, independent trainers and hard classes
- Cons: Crowded at night
Great equipment, good independent trainers, rude staff

Golds Gym so all the advertising out to be better than it is.
This particular location is beautiful, clean, has good equipment and great independent trainers.
The staff is the problem:
the head of the trainers is a young, irreponsible, flirty and rude gay man who is completely incapable of working with anyone other than his personal friends. He is too young for the job and obviously was hired to save money. He cancelled twice on me and is rude.
the manager will not listen well to feedback, is out of shape and also rude
many on the sales team are rude after they have sold you and ga ga happy as they are attempting to make the sale
They do not monitor for:
stench: they could be using citrus sprays and asking members to use anti persperints
Sexual activity: there is intense activity in the mens sauna making this uncomfortable for people who are NOT gay and this belongs in a bath house not a gym
sound: often the sound system is too low to enjoy. Everyone is so busy chatting and having run they pay little attention to operations
The maintenance team works the hardest
Recently they put on a roof and had NO EXTRA AIR BLOWERS, no apologies, no closure, just exposed people happily to toxic conditions
They are very arrogant
- Pros: good ind trainers, good equipment, good ambiance
- Cons: unresponsive and rude management, increasing rates, smells
Great gym to work out in !

I have been going to gyms for over 22 years and consider myself a fitness club expert. I've viewed well over 10-12 different companies, so when I tell you that Gold's on brannan st. has the best equipment and service I have ever seen, and a good membership price, it offers the complete package, than you can believe it. I'm also assuming you know your way around a health/fitness club/equipment, but novices can always learn. The atmosphere is seriously working out, but not unfriendly. The locker room and shower area is small, and it helps if your gay, but they could use a few more woman. Been to 24 hr. fitness (stinks) and YMCA ( so-so) and this place is tops.
- Pros: top equipment
- Cons: small locker room
