Editorial Review. No-frills cafe serves sandwiches, panini, pastries, salads and coffee drinks to Civic Center workers.
Decent value, but not so smart staff. So if you work around Market and Van Ness, this is one of the few lunch options. The sandwiches here are actually decent, but the staff are complete idiots. Even the ones who speak English (and I mean no offense by that, but really, it makes it difficult to order) mix up orders and give you the wrong thing. Don't try to subsitute here -- they'l completely screw it up. A decent bargain if you don't mind the not-so-sharp staff.
great lunch spot. I agree with the previous reviewer. This isn't just a coffeehouse. The lunch ingredients are fresh, and, there's always at least three different soups to try. Stay away from the smoothies, they seem to be made from a mix rather than real fruits--the taste is lackluster. They also offer a mean oatmeal and raisin cookie.
Get it and go. Java City isn't just for coffee. Their sandwhiches are great. You can either find a small table for 2 or get it to go. Located in the middle of the Civic center, there's always a line.
