at-home experience. Randy Patel - manager/owner - and his family, treated me and my wife like family. Clean rooms. Best value in downtown SFO. Excellent location. Just a few blocks away from Union Square.

best value in town. Very friendly staff. Feels like home. Clean rooms with fridge, microwave, tv, phone, wireless internet. You won't be able to find a better value hotel in the area.

It's like home. When you are received at Layne Hotel you understand the difference between a hotel managed by its owners and the others... They made us fell very comfortable. All the family (that you recognize from a picture at the reception desk) helped us during your stay... and the best breakfest of San Francisco is just in front of the hotel, it's worth waiting!

A historic and unpretentious tourist hotel.. The Scene
Built in 1912, this budget property attracts the young at heart. Its arty clientele is willing to sacrifice mega-amenities for an authentic San Francisco experience.

The Details
The lobby is bright and airy--featuring a slightly Art Deco theme, it is lined with pieces of contemporary art. The small and colorful boutique-style guest rooms carry the artistic theme to the upper floors and add superb city views into the mix. The Tenderloin, one of the city's most vibrant districts, tends not to attract the typical tourist, and you can expect a groovy and off-beat crowd while in residence. The hotel is within walking distance of Chinatown and North Beach.
