Editorial Review for Tartine Cafe Francais – by Carolyn Alburger

In Short
Two petite adjoining rooms make up this casual neighborhood spot, perfect for whiling away the hours over a cafe au lait or meeting up with friends for an impromptu meal. A few baskets and paintings from local artists adorn terra cotta-colored walls. Menu offerings range from traditional French omelets, sandwiches and salads to unabashedly American goodies like a Philly cheese steak. The pastry case displays cookies, croissants, muffins and cakes, bound to fulfill sweet cravings.

I am from Paris France and frequent several time a week this little Cafe in the Hayes Valley. The service is always done by a young energetic and friendly staff. If you are a Francophile you will be delighted to hear and speak French. In the morning, you will find the coffee and patisseries are better than average. They also offer delicious regional French salads served with their “secret vinaigrette” for Lunch. The menu also includes a variety of sandwiches, quiches and bagels

Pros: great food and service

Cons: close to french school so sometimes hectic

I asked for a goat cheese topped pastry, and the monkey brained people who work here. put it into the box upside down, cheese facing the bottom, and then turn the box 90 degrees so to destroy the food and make a mess out of it. Idiots, complete idiots. I will never return. Food is fair, and there is much better food elsewhere. Go to Citizen Cake, the crepe house, or almost anywhere else where you will get much better food, and much more intellegent people serving you.

Pros: Conveniert

Cons: Poor food, and monkey servents destroy your food.
