Small Spot, Amazing Sushi. This place only has 3 tables and a few seats at the bar. It is so worth the wait!!! The sushi is fresh and made with love. The absolute best roll is the Sumo Roll. Shrimp in the middle and tuna on top, along with an amazing garlic and lemon sauce. Too bad I had share this role with my friends. I definitely could have gobbled this one down all by myself. The Cucumber, asparagus, and crab salad is great too! A little hot sake to top it all off and you have yourself a great meal. Oh yea, and it's CHEAP!

Best Sushi in SF. I have been to a variety of sushi restaurants in San Francisco (and in LA, too) and this one is the best.

It's tiny -- there are only four tables in the whole restaurant, and there's the same lady making all the sushi every time I go. But, it's delicious.

The sushi is incredibly fresh and everything is made to order. My absolute favorite roll is the Sumo Roll, tuna, shrimp, lemon, garlic, heaven.

Favorite sushi bar in the city and totally reasonably priced.

Good food. Just moved to the city and was searching for a good sushi place, it was very small (seats about 12) I ordered the terryaki chicken 4 pc. california roll special which I liked because I usually like my sushi with eel/unagi sauce but they put some kind or seasoning on the rice where it tastes great without. I also ordered the smoked salmon (Sake Maki) which was alright but, a bit dry (my boyfriend liked it).My boyfriend ordered the spicy salmon roll (only 2 pc.) both of us weren't too fond of it, it was a strange roll and the salmon was very mushy(shredded?). Also there were 2 things flying around that looked like mosquitoes or something that scared us but, overall i think I like the place my food was good and they didn't charge me for the glass I broke. I really wish there was more of a selection of rolls though.

oustanding sushi and a cheap price. Visiting from Houston, found this hole in the wall sushi place that had the most outstanding sushi at a great price. 2 people ate for $50 ( 2 spider rools "12 pieces each", 6 pieces of sashimi, 2 miso soup). A place to try out for sure.

This pint-sized sushi spot on the border of Nob Hill with good prices and generous portions.. Mint green walls, snug Formica tables and good-luck cat statues are all that adorn this 16-seat, walk-in closet-sizedS sushi joint. Odd-slash-innovative rolls like the Lizzy (salmon, avacado, and lemon?) or Sumo (tuna, marinated shrimp, garlic and lemon soy sauce) are light on actual fish but generous enough to make this one of the few sushi spots where one can fill up for $20. Short and basic selections of nigiri and sashimi are also available while non-sushi eaters can opt for one of several cooked udon, donburi and teriyaki dishes. A hole-in-the-wall to be sure--the latchkey bathroom is located in the laundry room of the adjacent apartment building--but clean, fast and cheap.

Great sushi. I was looking for a place to try sushi while in the SF area, and came across Akiko's. My fiance and I decided to give it a try & were pleasantly surprised. The sushi was so fresh and was delicious! IWe loved the ambiance of the place, being a small "hole in the wall" type of place it made us feel at home. The staff was friendly and prices are also pretty good considering it was in the city. I will definitely be coming back here on my next trip to SF!!

I'm not giving it a second chance. I'm from the east coast and I love finding good sushi places in SF. This wasn't one of them. I ordered takeout at 9:00 pm and when I got there to pick up, the first thought in my mind as I opened the door was "fishy". This is never a good sign. I took the sushi and sashimi combo back to the hotel. The salad was good, but all the shashimi tasted bad. I should have refused the order as soon as I smelled it.

The sad thing is that since I don't live here, I won't be giving this cozy place another chance.

Pretty darn good sushi. OK, I had to see this place for myself when I read the sushi chef was female. I am from L.A. but I was in S.F. for work and I went to this place one night before it got busy. There are only like six tables in this "hole in the wall" sushi place. Our waitress was very nice; most of the sushi I ordered was good (don't order the Philly Roll, it's too salty). I would recommend the Toro (fatty tuna) and Rainbow Roll. If I am ever in S.F. again, I will definitely go back to this place.

female sushi chef!. i love this place. it is extremely small- only holds about 10 people at a time. the sushi is great and reason, and the environment is really cozy. the best part is that it is a female sushi chef and an all female staff! way to break those cultural barriers ladies.

drawbacks- they often do not have more exotics fish like uni

Nothing fancy, just great tasting sushi.. I live nearby and there are a few sushi joints in the area. Out of all those, I come here the most. The place is a bit too cramped in my opinion, but the sushi makes up for that. It is remarkably inexpensive considering how good it is. The miso soup isn't that great but the fish is sparkling fresh. I usually get one of the chef's specials. I just wish they had green tea ice cream.
