Editorial Review for Cityscape Restaurant & Bar – by Jennifer Joseph
The Scene
Located on the top floor of the downtown Hilton Hotel, this upscale restaurant-lounge features stunning 20-feet-tall windows with sweeping panoramas of the bay, bridges and beyond. White-clothed tables, a wide bar and a gargantuan skylight enhance the dramatic setting. The gracious service, refreshingly devoid of pretense and attitude, is extremely accommodating to a well-heeled crowd of locals and out-of-towners.
The Food
The ambitious menu features seasonal produce and top-notch ingredients. The simple preparations are the strongest: Dungeness crab cakes, crispy outside and succulent inside, are drizzled with chipotle aioli, detonating the delicate briny flavor. Likewise, a cream of cauliflower soup comes alive with white-truffle essence. There's also rabbit and foie gras galantine accompanied by Asiago cheese. A basic filet mignon is nicely grilled, and a light pomegranate sauce enlivens pistachio-encrusted salmon, perched atop bulgur and broccolini.

My wife & I had dinner here last night celebrating our anniiversary. The view was spectacular and we were graced with a beautiful sunset. Food was certainly better than okay but just as certainly not superb. As previous reviews have mentioned, you're paying for the view here. We knew that going in; even so, $175 for 2, with no alcohol at all, seems a bit steep for a meal significantly less than stellar. The service also appeared to be iffy at best. Our service was okay but the tables near us had several issues throughout the evening that seemed to take an inordinate amount of time to resolve. I had the crab cake as an appetizer; pretty good but not the best I've had. My wife had the tuna tartare; she was very happy with it. My lamp chops were very nice & prepared just right. My wife had the prime rib; it was very rare as she wanted but she indicated there wasn't a lot of flavor to it. The tiramisu desert was wonderful. We also got the cheese & fruit platter to bring back to our room -- big mistake; it was by far the worst $16.00 dish I've ever had.
Pros: the View
Cons: prices for mediocre food

If you like caviar, this restaurant offers a caviar bar on sunday. The buffet has a wide variation, sure to please the most finicky eater. We were invited here for a birthday party. It is pricey, 65 dollars per person, but well worth it.
