Great breakfast – I found this place last year, and I return every time I'm in town. Get the southern scramble with scrambled eggs, bacon bits, hash browns, guacamole, and tomato. Yum! This place is the size of my pinky finger, and it seats roughly 24 people at a shot. It's worth a few-minute wait to get in, though. Great food, fast service, and some pretty decent coffee. This is no chain diner.
pleasantly surprised – From outside, this cafe is not much to look at. I was very sceptical to say the least but I was hungry. I tried one of their specials called " Southern scramble". The best egg scramble variety I ever had!!! Seasoning was just perfect. Hash brown was golden brown just like the way it was meant to be. Staffs were friendly and attentive even though the place was packed. Very pleasant experience indeed.
Good Breakfast! – I have not yet had the breakfast like that on a street for a long time. The quality is good, the food is delicious. The Frech toast tastes rich but not too creamy, the egg cooks right, and bacon is crispy but not too dry. The drink is nothing particularly special, the serivice is good. The atmosphere in the restaurant is classy. If the parking is easier to find, I would like to go there for breakfast everyday.
This place is great – The service was excelent. The food was great. I like the magazines that were available. It's worth the trouble of finding parking.
A Great Deal – I go back to Taylor St. almost every breakfast that I'm in SF. Great location, incredibly friendly service, fresh and good fruit plate, perfectly good egg breakfast, and great price. In the morning I want eggs, bacon, and toast. The proprieters at Taylor St. undertand this simple need and give me exactly what I ask for, at a very reasonable price. They've won my loyal patronage.
Yummy pancakes – something about their simple pancakes. It looks plain... but the texture was different. Chewy and moist, buttermilk vanilla flavored...I loved it..For four straight mornings I only ate pancakes. I am back in Maryland. I miss those pancakes.
we had to come back. – With my visiting sister, we went to this breakfast spot near the union square during the Fourth of July weekend. The place was narrow, long and old. Had to wait for about 10 mins. There were maps on the wall so you can pin down your hometown. Must get lots of tourists. Kitchen was open design to show the cook in action. Service was prompt and kind. We had french toasts/ fruits and bacon/cheese omelet with hash browns.
Fruits were fresher and better. Omelet was filled with crispy bacon bits. Hash browns were perfect. French toasts were nicely goldened and browned. We came the next morning. Overall, Very nice experience for not much money.
Just OK – Apart from the nice fresh fruit, this is NOT a Best Breakfast place. Its basic breakfast only that was reasonably priced. If you believe this to be anything special, then you haven't been eating out in SF very much.
a hole in the wall in the union square area – With a friend visiting, i was looking for a breakfast place around my apt. From citysearch's high accolade I was expecting this place to be a fancy big place. It is a small diner with around 30 seats. The food is what makes a hidden diner a good find. The mushroom and cheese omelette was well-cooked: hot, light, and with the mushroom and cheese balanced so well. The French toast was quite good made from larger, puffier bread, and near-ideal in that the egg flavor of the batter was the star. not the sugar. One nitpick is that the cinnamon was a bit too much, causing us to sneeze. Freshfruit side was one of the best my friend ever had. Hash brown was nice surprise. Crispy with shavings the size of the potato chip. Overall, I highly recommend this place if your looking for delicious, fast, inexpensive breakfast joint.
u got 2 be kidding me – i went bz it was highly recommended... well well well... was i surprised!!! usually i can depend on citysearch for recommendations, but the food is sooooo bad i wouldnt come back. there's nothing special abt the restaurant and the food. the good thing abt the place is that its cheap, and it ends there. if you don't care much about what to eat and needed something moderately fast for to go, this is the place to go. otherwise, check out other place in the neighbourhood. you'll have a better experiance!
