Tips for Cafe Mason

I happened upon this restaurant while looking for a more affordable place to eat. I was in SF for a business conference, staying at the Hotel Nikko on Mason St.This restaurant is just a half a block up the street and was/is everything I look for in a restaurant. Nice ambiance, great service, excellent menu, and superb food. The menu features REAL food and fresh ingredients. You could totally tell the meal was homemade. My favorite was the crepes...not just for breakfast, but seafood crepes and Japanese squash crepes that were to DIE for. The salads were excellent too. There will definitely be something for everyone on their extensive menu. Walking distance to Union Square, art galleries, and, of course, the trolly. Oh, and the crepes came with real, fresh fruit...sliced apples, pears, oranges, canteloupe, honeydew, pineapple. I highly recommend this restaurant for breakfast or lunch. It's a great price point in a fun location in the city.

Got the breakfast on a Monday morning around 10:00 AM. It was recommended by the Parc 55 Hotel. I had to drive back down south that day, and after a heavy night of drinking, I told myself that I needed a light breakfast... (stuck in a car, no bathrooms, you know what I mean). I walked in and immediately was seated next to the street windows. They were clean and the ledges next to the window were clean! Lots of wait-staff moving around prepping for the day. The waitress came up pretty quickly and offered coffee. Nice. The breakfast menu is extensive. All you could want for breakfast... I got the 2 eggs (over easy) and added corned beef and hash. It came with fresh fruit and toast (got sourdough. Duh). The portions weren't too much and they weren't too little. Goldi Locks would love this place. After I broke the yokes and mixed it all together... YUM. YUM. YUM. Finished with the mixed bowl of fruit and didn't even eat the toast... All in all, a perfect breakfast. (though I REALLY wanted to try the Irish Eggs Benedict...!) Go here. Seriously. Good food in the morning! And you can here the waitresses make fresh orange juice (not so good if you are hung over)!

i've eaten here around 4 or 5 times so far, and the food has always been really good. service was inconsistent, sometimes great, sometimes not so good, but that's typical of most SF restaurants. great burgers, quesadillas, and gnocchi was pretty decent too. edit: oh, and great selection of healthier entrees (at least for me, they were healthier).

I always have amazing service when I come here. I especially like the blonde waitress, her name is either Leah, or Peach, or Hero, depending on the day. She always greats me with a smile and is the friendliest waitress of the bunch. Although all the waitresses there are beautiful and nice, she just brightens up my day. One thing I do find a little odd though, almost every single waitress but Leah, and possibly another, seem to all be Russian, but it is not a Russian restaurant...

I wish I had this place in Seattle. The sandwiches, pasta and deserts I had here were fantastic. And it was surprisingly classy for what I was expecting in a 24 hour cafe. I spose it's really more of a restaurant. A delicious one. The orange flam rocks.

Yes I would agree that I myself would also not come here before 1 a.m. however if you want to go to a place where you can be fabulously intoxicated and leave your wallet only to have it returned to you the next day (cash untouched)...this is your place!

You cannot go wrong with a 4am Santa Fe burger and a strawberry milkshake at Cafe Mason.

Somewhat pricey for a cafe/diner, but the food was delectable. I also appreciated the helpful and exuberant hostess and HOT waiter. Fantastic service. Great atmosphere. I would come back again.
