Editorial Review for New Deal – by Kim Cooper
The Scene
Specializing in custom couches and tables from sophisticated designers who blend retro and contemporary influences, this small corner shop with huge windows uses its peculiar diagonal space cleverly--allowing individual pieces to shine, while demonstrating how they can work in a room.
The Goods
New Deal is the only place in town where you can find huge cast bronze Buddha heads from Bangkok, more than a dozen distinctive lighting lines, and Sergio Galli's vibrant photo-realist paintings of local scenes ($400 and up). Leaf through the catalog to choose from 100 stylish sofa designs that can be covered with 700-plus fabrics. If looking for that strikingly perfect coffee table objet, see local design group Indigo's witty bowls and vases made from recycled magazines and delicate glass vases inspired by sea urchins, or Jane Tivol's candy-colored fused glass plates. Hanging glass lamps with Venetian millefiori shades have a soft kaleidoscopic loveliness.

We got a great lamp at a good price, but I it took 4 weeks to get it. I saw it at lamps plus for a bit less and it was in stock for immediate purchase. Their Jonathan Adler line is priced very low though. Overall, a good store with dedicated owners, but the turn-around time is a pain.
Pros: Nice Lamps, Nice owners
