This is the temple of artisan bread and pastry baking! I spent a long time trying to determine where I would learn how to bake and EVERYONE (including Tartine, Acme, Il Fornaio, and Semifreddi's bakers) pointed to SFBI. I recently took a 5-day Artisan 1 (bread) workshop here - the course was amazing and I will return as often as I can afford. I can't wait to take a pastry course. My class was composed of professional bakers and enthusiasts from around the world. I was a little nervous because I was a beginning home baker. Fortunately, the class size was limited (14 or 15 people)and I got a lot of individual attention while meeting fantastic people. I didn't realize that I could learn so much about such a complicated subject in such a short period of time. I think this may be my highest review yet - SFBI deserves it. This is a truly special place. I envy anyone who gets to take the Professional Program.
Pros: Top-quality everything, I can write my own recipes/formulas, I can call on them any time I need help
Cons: I wish they had weekend or evening courses
