A Cafe That Stand the Test of Time.
Any given morning you will find this place bustling with people. Its more than your average "hole in the wall" cafe. It has had my undying devotion for over 15 years.(been there longer though) They have seen me while I dated my husband, after I got married, through my childbearing years & ask about my in-laws because they go there too. I am greeted with a hug, compare child raising tips with the long term servers & they know I normally order the Santa Fe omelette.(Chorizo, cheese & egg) I have pretty much tried everything on their menu & NOTHING is bad. Even the oatmeal is tasty. For the die hards, we know it's ALL ABOUT the homemade muffins that change seasonally. Something they don't make all the time is the chicken & polenta soup...When you can get it you will long for it lovingly FOREVER! Honorable mention also goes to their pancakes & french toast!!
P.S. They also serve dinner which I havent been able to get to just yet. So this review is for breakfast ONLY!
"Hold the mayo, hold the lettuce, special orders don't upset us" at this diner extrordinaire..
The Food
This restaurant takes "interactive dining" to new heights: You can design your own three-egg omelet, choosing from nearly thirty different fillings. Or you can have a six-plus-ounce burger with everything from cheddar, jack, Swiss or bleu to sauteed mushrooms, onions, bacon or avocado. You can go the pancake route, the waffle route or the French toast route, as long as it's JoAnn's signature orange-bread French toast piled high with strawberries and sliced oranges. But one definitive recommendation is the buttermilk shake: This potent combination of thick vanilla ice cream and tangy buttermilk is enough to make a convert out of the most jaded diner.
The Scene
Enjoy your meal at one of the black-and-chrome counter stools or comfy booths. Service manages to be friendly and no-nonsense at the same time, so sit back, relax and enjoy at the clear vista of the San Bruno Mountains.
OUTSTANDING. I eat at Joanne's frequently for weekend breakfast, and I have NEVER had anything but amazing meals, and I've tried just about everything on the menu. Informal, friendly atmosphere - can be a bit hot and cramped inside on busy days, but the food is well worth it. EXCELLENT breakfast spot.
Best Breakfast in Bay Area. My husband and I have been going here since we discovered this find 4 years ago. Breakfast is our *favorite* meal to eat out. So satisfy both of us, it has to be hearty, made with top quality ingredients, and reasonably priced. JoAnn's is all of these and more!
Best Breakfast in Town. Best breakfast I've had in ages. If you like spicy, try the Spicy Migas.
