Perfect Service. I was into Peninsula Transmission about a year and a half ago for a torque converter on my 2002 Ford Explorer V-8. After Rico replaced it with a heavy duty replacement to the Ford junk that was in there, It has run flawlessly ever since. But, as Fords are prone to transmission problems, my transmission was now slipping and throwing up the 'check transmission light'. I was glad I still had Rico. The dealer wanted $5,000 to put another one of their faulty units in. Rico rebuilt the transmission using new hardened parts and other up grades for much less than Ford would charge. The truck drives so much better now. It has a solid feel through all gears. Better than when it was new. I find it hard to believe that anyone could give Rico or his business a bad review. He is so friendly, up-front and honest. I'm sure this is why his business is thriving. Thanks Rico.
Excellent service. Unlike most businesses you walk into, I was greeted right away and made me feel acknowledged. Rico explained everything to me, including how much it was going to cost and how much time it will take to complete the job. My previous estimates were going to "total" my Van and was resigned to selling it. I really wanted to keep my Van for another 60,000 miles so I stopped by Peninsula Transmission to get an estimate. I was pleased to hear that they rebuild the transmissions "in house", but most of all, I was happy to hear the numbers. Very reasonable. Now I'm driving around in my Van happy as a lark. Thanks to Rico and his friendly staff. So happy in fact, I brought in my other car to have it diagnosed since it was having trouble shifting to a higher gear, thus, losing power. Rico test drove it and found it only needed a shift solenoid and other electrical parts for a fraction of the cost of a tranny rebuild. This shop is highly recommended.
I recently bought a used 2002 Ford Explorer with 47,000 miles for my mother. It soon had a bad rattle in the Transmission. I feared the worst as the Ford Dealership said it would be over $3,500.00 to replace and I had no warranty. Thank goodness I brought it to Rico at Peninsula Transmission. He came highly recommended from a friend.
Rico was so friendly and reassuring. He really cared that the truck was going to be driven by my mother and needed to be 100% safe. He took me and the truck out for a long test drive including the freeway and listened carefully to the sound. He properly diagnosed the problem which was a failing torque converter. The estimate was $1,200. He decided go with a replacement part from a company that has corrected the low quality Ford original parts that caused early failure in the first place.
The great thing about Rico is that he will not replace anything that does not need replacing. He takes the time to get to the real problem without taking the short cut of just replacing everything at the expense of the customer
And here it the best part. The final bill came in lower than the estimate. When is the last time you had that experience at a repair shop?
Thanks Rico. My mother thanks you also.

SAN BRUNO IS LUCKY TO HAVE PENINSULA TRANSMISSION! My 18 year-old daughter recently experienced a slipping problem in her Mustang which she has enjoyed driving. Prior to bringing to Peninsula Transmission, she brought her car to another repair shop located in the Bay Area who told her that she needed to replace her transmission at a cost of $2000. Just before giving-in, I decided to have her bring her car for a second opinion to RICO at Peninsula Transmission on El Camino Real in San Bruno. Rico told her that he would check her car out for free but would need to leave her car for a half-day. He has a lot of customers and you?ll soon learn why. Later that day, when my daughter called back, Rico informed her that all that the car needed was a grommet for a cable that had fallen off. Not only did he not charge me $2000, he didn?t even charge me for the part, or even the labor to replace it. You can probably count on one hand the number of honest mechanics left in the world and we have one of them right here in our back yard! BRAVO, RICO! I?ll bring my car to you anytime!
Peninsula Transmission San Bruno California on the El Camino. The shop is really good. Had a good experience with my 1977 Mercedes.Other shops were not to receptive to working on such an old import, but Rico and his crew did not flinch. I have been going back ever since. I especially like the fact that they are open on Saturdays. They are very professional and very considerate.
