Big things come in small packages at this budget hotel.. The Scene
This Northern California chain has found its niche by offering personalized extras to travelers on a budget. Free coffee and cookies add to the value. The fun pink exterior is reminiscent of the Art Deco movement, and the friendly lobby looks like it belongs in a suburban recreation center.

The Details
The guest rooms are cozy, measuring in at 8 feet by 14 feet. Groovy Murphy beds fold up into pine cupboards to give you more space during the day. Some rooms come with baths and cute pedestal sinks in the bathrooms. Others feel like modified college dorms, with the TV stacked above the microwave and a shower stall in the corner. Amenities include work desks, CD players, Internet access and kitchenettes.
