Average food. We had the early bird menu and had the pad thai, curry chicken, eggplant, calamari, and the mango/sticky rice. All could use more flavor ; we love our foods with strong flavors and spices. Nothing was bad, but nothing was outstanding.
Best Thai Food in Bay Area.
Bangkok Bay is my all time favorite. Every time I went there, the food and service were excellent.
I love every dish that I have tried, I always order chicken basil and curry lamb, they are so yummy that sometimes we need to double our order. For dessert, roti is a must. I took a lot of my friends to Bangkok Bay, and all of them have become the regular customer now.
Authentic Thai - well priced. First of all, I am a Thai native. If you just want good authentic Thai food - this is the place. The food here is seasoned correctly and not "Americanized" like your strip mall chinese joint. I have visited on a couple occasions while on business travel and would highly recommend. Restaurant is clean and service is excellent. Try the som tum of lab appetizer - they are really good. The portion is good and the price is also good. Most main dishes are in the $10 range and is more than enough for one person.
The Best REAL Thai Food Around!.
I lived in Thailand for a year. To be honest, however, I was on my way to a different Thai restaurant, got lost, and settled on this one. Upon walking in the door, I genuinely felt as though I was walking in the door of a restaurant in the heart of Thailand. Family owned, Bangkok Bay offers the best of what Thai food has to offer, being not only fresh and authentic, but perfectly flavored and spiced. Though the food was unbelievable, the service and surroundings were great too. The family feel of the restaurant is evident upon being greeted by either the husband or wife duo who run the place, as they strike up lively conversations about this and that. The surroundings, while unique, are true to Thailand. From the napkins which take hours to fold to the CD (which actually played in many of the restaurants I remember), I was smiling the whole time.
I would recommend the Green Curry and Cashew Nut selections, with your choice of chicken, beef, pork and of course Tofu. Also, don't miss out on the Singha beer and the sticky rice and mango dessert.
To be honest, I signed up on Citysearch because of this restaurant and this restaurant alone. I think a place like this deserves recognition. While you shouldn't expect some ultra chic establishment, expect spectacular food, wonderful service, and a real Thai experience.
A Pleasant Strip-Mall Surprise. Tucked into a small strip mall area off El Camino, I wasn't expecting much from this family owned and run Thai, but the cozy atmosphere and personal service more than made up for the location. The food was quite good (better than a lot of inferior Thai in this area). We got Panang and Green curries, and both were properly spiced (we had asked the kitchen to "kick it up a notch" having read in an editorial review that the food was milder). A great local find.
