Great Place, great people. My fiance and I absolutely loved this place. We started out with the calamari appitizer and it was very good. Calamari was cooked perfectley, and the juice was tastey. We usually each get something differant, but when the customer at the next table's lamb was set before him, we both could'nt resist. It paid off, because the taste was something that made me feel I was in my mothers kitchen. I highly reccomend getting it. If you enjoy lamb, the chef will not disappoint you. Finally for dessert, I had the lavander creme brulee and my Fiance had the banana foster. Brulee was really good with just a hint of lavender taste. Sometimes places over due lavender and such, but they balanced it out rather nicely. Banana's Foster is a time old favorite of ours and always will be. There's was great. Also they paired each course of our dinner with a glass of wine which was done rather perfect.

Great Food. Don't know what these other people are talking about. Have been there three times and always have a great meal. They have a great wine list. They don't give you huge portions but the food is worth it. Don't listen to someone that goes to McDonalds. That's all i have to say.

Editorial Review. Diners stop in for a variety of steak and seafood dishes, freshly prepared in an ocean view setting.

Snooty Host/Waiter almost ruined our evening. We made early bird reservations for a romantic dinner for two. At 5pm, the restaurant was empty and we were the first there. After a delay in which the host was tied up talking to a passer by, we were seated. Our waiter informed us/insisted that our reserved table was the only available after we requested a change away from the chilly air of the front door. A few more couples arrived without reservations(we were in earshot of the host) and were seated in better locations in the restaurant. These actions were a sign of disrespect for us as patrons and we decided to leave. Its too bad, I hear the food is great but we'll never know. I'd rather have good food with respect than great food with disrespect.

Great Service and the food is A+. Food was great and the services was even better. The restaurant is away from all the other restaurant on the dock so it is less crowded, but the inside the restaurant there was not an empty seat when I was there. I guess you say it was a great sign of a good restaurant. If you can get the one of the booth dress comfortable and be readhy for your legs might cramp up. But it was fun and different eating on cushions.

Tired of the trendy and tasteless....... Forget the trendy dining scene in downtown Half Moon Bay when you can drive a few minutes into El Granada and experience the unique cuisine at Cafe Gibraltar. An elegant yet rustic atmosphere provides a warm relaxing environment combined with excellent and knowledgeable service that leaves you feeling comfortable. But what makes this place the best is bar far the food.... I recommend starting off with the mezza platter followed by the black tiger prawns sauteed in a tomato chutney sauce. Relax, take your shoes off and enjoy the overall experience that far exceeds anything on Main Street.

The new location. Cafe Gibraltar's new location at 425 Avenue Alhambra in El Granada (just a few miles south of their old spot, just off Cabrillo Highway) lends them a larger room for twice as much seating and a gorgeous open kitchen complete with its imported brick oven. There are even romantic platform tables with cushioned floor seating for an adventurous yet luxuriant twist to dining. The food is luscious and beautifully prepared in a Mediterranean style with nightly specials featuring locally grown fare. The wine list is carefully chosen and has fairly priced offerings. The desserts are excellent (try the Greek Float!). No, I don't own the place -- I just love it, it's great!

Romantic Coastside Restaurant. Their new location is great with a view of the Pacific. The food is good but I do not think it worthy of a Citysearch 10 or Zagat 27. I had the lamb which was overcooked. My husband's pork dish was competently prepared..Nothing to get excited over.

Amazing. I'm actually stunned that there are no reviews of Cafe Gibraltar here yet. Zagat recently rated it second only to the French Laundry in all of the Bay Area. Their new location gives them more space (meaning it's less than impossible to get a table), and they now serve lunch as well.

As a coastsider, I've always treasured this place, even though it was inevitable that city folk would find out about it. The cuisine is consistently inventive, and costs less than inferior but trendy places in SF. It's simply not to be missed.
