Elegance and commerce share a quiet table for two at this upscale spot for business dining..
The Scene
This gorgeous two-story space is tricked out with a grand mahogany bar, Italian chandelier and sconces, brocade-covered walls and marble fireplace. Although the restaurant is best known for being the power-dining spot of choice among the Silicon Valley elite, Chantilly is also a great place to celebrate an important romantic occasion.
The Food
The menu offers standard northern Italian and French cuisine with familiar, mostly unadventurous dishes. The menu does include some extravagant touches, such as pan-seared Hudson Valley foie gras with Madeira and truffles, and a tasting of three caviars. Salads can disappoint--the mixed Sonoma greens salad is a heavy-handed jumble of melon, candied walnuts, blue cheese and champagne vinaigrette. Much better is the Dover sole entree, served in sweet, cognac-laced butter sauce. Osso bucco is braised in lovely wine sauce and dished up with creamy wild mushroom polenta. On the downside, lobster tail can drown in a buttery blend of sherry and tarragon.
Wonderful Dining.
We have an annual corporate function here, and the group unanimoulsy approves. Wonderful food and an excellent wine list. The owner greets you at the door and assures the quality of your experience.
My wife and entertain friends here even though its an hours drive from our home. First rate. San Francisco experience without the hassle.
Pricey? Actually quite reasonable considering the quality of the experience.
Decent food, but a bit stuffy. Service was good. Food was tasty. Portions were just about right. Not the place for those of you who love the big meals. The ambience was a bit conservative and stuffy (maybe that's your style, but it was not what we were looking for). My wife had the angel hair with shrimp and I had the salmon, both were delicious, but price-wise, it was not the best deal. We'll keep looking.
Great meal, scarey bill.. I booked a company dinner at Chantilly's resataurant last night and the meal, decor and service were all exceptional. The only problem I had was the wine selected by our waiter, no price was mentioned nor were we informed of the bottle count untill the bill came to our table and we learned that the liquor portion of our bill was higher than the food! There were 14 of us drinking and we were charged for 12 bottles of very expensive wine, not a nice surprise.
