What People Are Saying About Nation's Giant Hamburgers

In Short – Since 1952, diners have been enjoying this nostalgic restaurant's tradition of high-quality comfort food at affordable prices. While they are best known for their signature three-quarter-pound "giant" burger complete with a heaping pile of fixings, Nation's has expanded its menu over the years to include sandwiches, hot dogs, pies and hearty breakfast staples like omelets and pancakes. Health-conscious diners may opt for lower-fat choices like the chicken or salmon burger.

Editor's Tips

Know Before You Go:
Order by phone and pick up your favorite Nation's meal to go
The Extras:
Got a sweet tooth? A wide variety of homemade pies, from classic apple to sinful chocolate creme, are available to take home.

All night baby!

by saira1123 at Citysearch

24 hours who can beat that. After a long night grabbing a burger, fries, or breakfast it amazing. The food is good, but make sure you tell them to go easy on the mayo they tend to really slather it on. The fries are salted to perfection. The eggs are ok, they use american cheese and I'm not really a fan. The pies are good too. My room mate used to get them all the time and they are delicious.

  • Pros: all night
  • Cons: the people that work there seem a little depressed

Nation's Hamburgers invented the "perfect" burger

by dewolfe at Citysearch

My wife and I, we now live in Michigan, often sit and discuss the things we miss the most about living in the Bay area. Always at the top of our list is, Nations Burgers. We always went to the Pleasanton store.

Nations has by far the best hamburger anywhere in the country, in our opinions. The vegetables were always fresh and crisp, the meat properly cooked and moist with tons of flavor, and the right amount of mayo/miracle whip, to give the sandwich the best taste ever!

The frnech fries were always cooked to a light golden brown, crispy outside, soft and tasty inside.

And a wonderful selection of pies!

Something else that most don't think about...the soft drinks...

At a lot of restaurants, the ratio of syrup to carbonated water can make the soft drinks taste like anything but the brand selected. Nations quality control was/is such that what you get tatstes like it should.

My recommendation...if your visiting the Bay Area...find a Nations Restaurant for at least one of your meals, you won't ever forget it. If you live in the Bay Area...what can I say...I envy you! Go to Nations and tell them I said hello!!!

On a scale of one to ten...Nations is an eleven in our book!

  • Pros: Best tasting, freshest hamburger, anywhere!
  • Cons: Not enough seating in some of their stores

Great burgers, pie, and fries

by gjagiello at Citysearch

Really great hamburgers. Ask for less dressing, unless you like a 1/2 cup of mayo on your burger. They do grilled or raw onions on burgers, and I like each for different reasons. Solid steak fries, nothing fancy but very good. Pies are good and they have tons of flavors (why pies?) I have been to both the Daly City location as well as the Oakland version near Jack London square, and I love them both. As far as fast-food burgers go, I would put Nation's on the top of the stack.

Beats out Fuddruckers!

by dabigslippah at Citysearch

It's the biggest, tastiest hamburger I've eaten. Great flavor overall; the onions really makes the burger taste so delicious! They've also got a great milkshake! However, if you ever visit LA then ya gotta try a Tommy burger drenched in their Chili con carne or a juicy Fatburger. Too bad we can't get any good burgers in New Jersey.

  • Pros: Fresh and tasty, Clean, Good service
  • Cons: None
