Tips for Woodlawn Memorial Park

Part three. I can not trust Patrick Ung so I will need to witness the digging up of the urn and its vault, and witness the remains transferred to the marble urn. Then we can reschedule another burial either during the week or over the weekend. Every visit and phone call to Patrick Ung is a dread. I want people to be warned to stay away from Patrick Ung at Woodlawn cemetary.

Hector the manager of Woodlawn did step in to make sure the digging up and transferring the remains to the proper container was done. He also did notify the grounds keepers to arrange the tent and chairs for my family to be set up on Saturday. The second burial went smoother than the first.

part two of three parts. Patrick said that he does not make mistakes and he has been doing this for over ten years. I kept my cool and asked him on the day of the wake to keep the Monday burial as we had family members who were attending Friday to Monday for the wake and the burial. He said it would be an additional fee of $800 for a witness cremation if we wanted to keep the Monday appointment. The family was not going to be present to witness the cremation as it would be too difficult to see. I contacted the funeral director at Green Street and they reduced the witness fee to $400. Anyone else would have gotten upset but I said we will pay for the fee eventhough my family will not be witnessing the cremation.

This brings us the the third mistake Patrick made today 11/3 which was a big mistake. Patrick kept the urn containing the ashes covered in a blue bag during the burial service. He did not show the urn to the family to confirm the urn is the correct one we paid for. My family paid for a round marble urn and he switched it with a plastic container. He placed the plastic container in the ground and we paid our respects. I noticed the brown rectangular lid which contained the ashes. It did not come to me until when we got home to double check the paperwork.

My family came home at 5:30pm and we double checked the receipt showing what we paid for. Sure enough the $495 fee was paid for by the family for the marble urn. Now I have called Woodlawn for Patrick's boss Hector or Margaret to inform them that my family is very unhappy. Now my family will need to dig up our loved one at the cemetary, transfer the ashes from the plastic container to the marble urn and rebury everything. My family would need to go out a second time for the reburial. Under Murphy's law everything that can go wrong will go wrong.

part one of three parts as there is a character limit. Patrick Ung is a family service consultant at WoodLawn. He needs to learn tact, how to schedule burials, and to double check his work.

The first thing he said when my family sat in his office was you owe us money. I said excuse me as my mother was buried there 19 years ago and everything was paid for. We did not owe anything for that service. He should have said I am sorry for your family's loss and we can provide the following services and attached is a price list for these services.

I asked Patrick realisticaly when could the cremation be completed and the burial scheduled. He said the cremation would be done over the weekend and the burial could be at 12:30pm on Monday. I said fine and we paid the fees then and there and scheduled the burial for Monday at 12:30pm. He unilaterally cancels the burial and calls the funeral director on the day of the wake and does not call me. I get a phone call from the funeral director at Green Street mortuary at 9:30am the day of the wake notifying me of the change. I call Patrick to find out what is happening that would change the date. It turns out he did not write down Monday on his calendar as the burial date and he gives two different excuses. The funeral director was told that Woodlawn did not have the people working on the weekend to do the cremation. This was incorrect as I had paid two weeks earlier a cremation fee and a rush fee for people to work the weekend.
