Ruined Meal. Valentine's dinner. Menu was replaced with limited selection of 4-5 appetizers, salads, pastas, entrees and desserts. Bread was excellent, but had to ask for it 20 minutes after we were seated. Some appetizers were served cold including pasta with red sauce and lamb chops. Dessert came out the same way. "Lava cake" was promptly unpacked from a cardboard box from the fridge and put on a plate with ice cream without the cake being heated at all. When asked about it the owner said it was supposed to be that way and then left. $60 meal for two entrees and two desserts.

AMAZING!. If you are homesick for Northern Italy, you need to call right now and make a reservation at Scala's.

Scala's has perfectly braised meats, exquisite polenta and dazzingly desserts.

The ambiance is warm and inviting and the service is professional and unobtrusive.

The wine list has a great representaion of Italian wines.

Making Scala's my GO TO PLACE when I am in San Francisco

Serving excellent Italian food for many years. La Scala is not a fancy overpriced gourmet temple.

Delicious Italian food at a fair price.

That's why we return again and again.

Perfect for my Family!. Cafe La Scala is the perfect place to bring a large family or group. I had my 37th Birthday party here and the food was delicious, the service was great and everyone in my party had something tasty! For casual Italian, family style eating this is the place!

Editorial Review. Drawing from Old World sensibility, restaurant serves up a traditional, warm Italian dining experience.

Bad service. I used to go to Cafe La Scala for my birthday and friends all the time. And haven't been there for a couple of years. But I just went back recently and was not happy with the service and food. The food was very plain and simple. There wasn't a lot of flavor to the dishes we ordered. The pasta was like Red Robins or Denny's. And the server was definitely not all together. I had to ask him a couple of times for water and lemon and place setting because we didn't have enough.
